Thanks for the on [link] I really appreciate the support.
You definitely have a cool style; I'm not too familiar with Dexter (my brother watches it and made me watch a few episodes) but Across the Universe is fucking incredible.
If you haven't seen Moulin Rouge, I highly recommend it. It's very similar but without limiting itself to one band; so for example, you'll here David Bowie, Nirvana and The Police all in one scene sung by the cast. Very insane and intense, both visually and musically, but very very well done. The art direction on it is just phenomenal as well.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate it!

No problem. I thought it was really beautiful. Do you use Adobe to create some of those effects? They look amazing.
And thank you, I'm still trying to mix around with a few things, ha. I'm kind of one of those people who aren’t aware of a style, I just of just do what I think looks good, ha. My friend got my into the show and I've watched it ever since, I think the whole concept behind Dexter was really intriguing, and I think Across the Universe was brilliant with the digital techniques they did, especially during I am the Walrus. And I have seen Moulin Rouge. A few times I think and loved it. The movie makes be sad all the time, ha-ha but I loved how they incorporated the music to fit the time it was set as well as the amazing costumes and sets.

Yeah, pretty much everything is created in Photoshop/Illustrator. I'll occasionally create something on actual paper and scan it, like the crumpled up paper behind the girl in this picture: [link] but normally yeah. Just Photoshop and Illustrator. I really love that in CS3 I can import vectors straight into Photoshop which saves me so much time and has made my workflow a lot easier.
One thing I'll rarely do, but may as well mention is use After Effects to create interesting effects as well. For example, you can use the Vanishing Point in Photshop, export it, then bring it into After Effects and turn a 2d image into 3d. So you could take a picture of a building, bring it into After Effects then rotate it in 3d space; literally turn a 2d picture. Pretty amazing how they have integrated all of their programs. I used to do some 3D work as well as fractal work but these days I try to stick to the Keep It Simple Stupid method and not over complicate things. That pic didn't have any of that, though. Just 2 solid days working in Photoshop and Illustrator. If you ever have any questions, feel free to send me a note. I'm always willing to help people out or take a look at stuff and offer advice. I'm just another schmuck myself, but I thought I'd offer.
Talking about Across the Universe has made me want to watch it again... I really do need to get that on DVD. I remembered I was hyping it to one of my friends and she said she had the soundtrack, but hadn't seen the movie. That totally bummed me out because for me, half of the fun was marking out for all of the songs and getting all excited when they would do another awesome song I love. If I knew what songs would be in it before hand, I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much.
Just out of curiosity, did you see Sweeney Todd? I really dug the digital effects in that, especially the opening song when they do that fly through of the city. Very well done and it really established the tone of the film instantly. That opening song is so awesome, too. With the young dude singing all perfectly then Depp coming in on the low notes. Just insanely well done. My brother hated it because the story wasn't accurate enough (something about him not knowing the girl in real life or in the original story) but I didn't care. Still dug it.
I wish they would make a really solid movie with Bowie songs. There's Life Aquatic but they are all in Portuguese or whatever, and Moulin Rouge has a couple. But he has so many good songs that I'd love to see an Across The Universe style musical based on his works.

I have no idea how to make vectors yet. I'm going to be attending school in September for Graphic Design so, I'm hoping to learn about it. I've played with Illustrator a bit, I just remember not liking that pen too, but I think you end up using it a lot, ha. If I think of anything to ask, I'll be asking heh.
I loved putting all the things together. I watched it with my mom not too long ago, she really liked it and had to borrow it because she missed a lot of things due to the sound not being very high. I bought the soundtrack afterwards, I love it.
I did see Sweeny Todd! I really like Tim Burton's movies. I don't think I've seen one I disliked. He was the best at making the Batman movies, hands down in my opinion. The ones after were insanly too high-tech compaired to Burton's and kind of ruined the affect for me. He has a style that I really like. I own the soundtrack to that one as well. He's always doing really neat things. I'm still not sure about the whole background story as I never read much into it so, I can't comment on that. The blood seemed a little...too much? It seemed it didn't really belong, but he probably intended for it to look fake in a humorous kind of way. His movies are always dark, but seem to have a child like innocene to it.
I haven't seen that Life Aquatic thing. The only movie I've seen related to David Bowie is the Laberith, which was amazing. I'm not all up in his songs, I mean I enjoy listening to him but, I don't know much of the meaning towards his songs, but still that would be neat. All I think of is a bunch of Sci-Fi effects.
